Heading to Australia? You’ll soon have more flight options with Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi

Planning a trip to Australia? Getting from Abu Dhabi to Sydney is about to become a little easier. As from December, Etihad Airways will increase its service between Abu Dhabi and Sydney to two flights every day, giving travellers more flexibility when planning a trip Down Under.

The airline currently flies between the UAE capital and Sydney 10 times a week. From December, that will increase to 14 weekly services, with all flights operated using Etihad’s Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

That works out to more than 5,000 seats each way every week, making it easier for travellers to find a flight that suits their plans.

More choice when flying to Sydney

The updated timetable will offer both daytime and evening departures from Abu Dhabi.

The morning service, EY450, will leave Abu Dhabi at 9.55am and touch down in Sydney at 6.30am the following morning.

For those who prefer to travel overnight, EY454 will depart Abu Dhabi at 9.05pm, arriving in Sydney at 5.45pm the next day.

There are also two return options from Sydney, departing at 4.50pm and 9.30pm.

Depending on which service you take, you’ll arrive back in Abu Dhabi shortly after midnight or at around 5am.

Turn your stopover into a holiday

If Abu Dhabi is part of a longer journey, you could also make the most of your time in the UAE capital.

Etihad’s Abu Dhabi Stopover programme allows eligible passengers to add a complimentary one- or two-night hotel stay to their itinerary, giving you the chance to explore the city before continuing your journey.

With Sydney becoming a twice-daily route, there will be even more flexibility for travellers heading between the UAE and Australia this summer.

The increased service is scheduled to begin in December 2026.
