THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING by Emily Harding is a contemporary romcom about Marnie, who wakes up in a Boston hospital with no memory of the last year of her life.
She doesn’t remember moving across the country, breaking up with her boyfriend, or building an entirely new life. With the help of her grumpy neighbor Ben, Marnie starts following a trail of clues to reconstruct the missing year—and along the way, she may discover that the future she wants isn’t the one she was trying to get back to.
The amnesia premise immediately grabbed me, but what really sold me was the idea of Marnie trying to piece together a life she no longer remembers. I liked that the mystery isn’t only about what happened to her. It’s also about figuring out who she was during that missing year and whether that version of herself was actually happy. And then there’s Ben. A grumpy, attractive neighbor helping her retrace her memories around Boston? Yeah, I was in.
I really enjoyed following Marnie around Boston as she tried to solve the mystery of her own life. The little clues she finds in her apartment give the story a fun treasure-hunt quality, and I liked watching each new discovery lead her somewhere else. There’s also a softness underneath the mystery that I really appreciated. Marnie is dealing with more than memory loss—there’s grief, loneliness, and the realization that she has apparently changed in ways she doesn’t remember. That made her journey about much more than getting her memories back.
The chemistry between Marnie and Ben was a slow burn built on friendship, banter, and all those little moments where you can tell there’s more happening underneath the surface. I especially liked watching Marnie start to rely on Ben while she’s trying to figure out her life. He becomes this steady presence as everything else around her feels unfamiliar, and their time together gives them the chance to actually get to know each other.
The yearning is definitely there, but I also liked that their relationship isn’t the only thing Marnie is figuring out. Her relationship with herself is just as important.
THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING was such a sweet mix of romance, mystery, humor, and self-discovery. I loved following Marnie through Boston as she pieced together her missing year. Add in Ben, all that slow-burn yearning, the Boston setting, and the emotional thread of grief and starting over, and this was a warm, charming romance with plenty of heart.

For fans of Hello Stranger and Pictures of You, a modern amnesia romance about fresh starts, unexpected love, and what happens when forgetting your past sends you stumbling straight into your future.
Growing up, Marnie Stephens believed that destiny was real and the universe had a plan. But at thirty, real life has become more difficult than divine. Especially when Marnie wakes up at a hospital in Boston with no memory of how she got there…or the last year of her life.
Her doctor tells her she suffered a head injury, her boyfriend, Matt, insists they broke up months ago, and her hair is somehow eight inches shorter. Before she knows it, she finds herself in an apartment she doesn’t remember with a new neighbor, Ben Morgan, she’s sure she won’t forget.
As Marnie sets out to retrace the last year of her life, the last thing she needs is to start falling for Ben, the grumpy—and incredibly attractive—neighbor helping her. But the universe has other plans, and it’s not long before Marnie begins to wonder if fighting for the past is as important as the one person who could be her future.
