UAE President Sheikh Mohamed takes Etihad Rail to Dubai ahead of new route launch
The UAE President took the train from Abu Dhabi to Dubai ahead of the route launch on September 30
Etihad Rail’s much-anticipated expansion into Dubai is finally happening this week. And ahead of the opening of the Dubai Etihad Rail station, called Al Yalayis Station, on September 30, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan took a trip on Etihad Rail from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.
As part of the official inauguration of Etihad Rail’s Dubai station on Monday, Sheikh Mohamed took a trip from the capital to Dubai, and reviewed Etihad Rail’s operating system and quality of services during the 1 hour, 4 minute journey per Gulf News.
Also present for the inauguration of Etihad Rail’s Dubai station were HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail.
Speaking of the inauguration, Sheikh Hamdan said: “Connecting the Emirate of Dubai to the national Etihad Rail network strengthens its position at the heart of the country’s mobility network, supports its pivotal role in the national economy and reinforces its status as a global centre for business, tourism and investment. It also adds to Dubai’s infrastructure a national transport network that improves accessibility to and from the emirate and keeps pace with its growth and future ambitions.”

From Wednesday September 30, the Dubai Etihad Rail station will open, inviting passengers to travel between Dubai and Abu Dhabi by train.
The Dubai station is officially called Al Yalayis Station and is located in Jumeirah Golf Estates, close to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311).
On the first day of service, there will be several direct trains running between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The first train leaves Dubai Station at 6.14am, arriving at Abu Dhabi Station at 7.18am. The departures from Dubai to Abu Dhabi are scheduled for:
- 6.14am, arrives in Abu Dhabi at 7.18am
- 7.14am, arrives in Abu Dhabi at 8.18am
- 1.14pm, arrives in Abu Dhabi at 2.18pm
- 5.14pm, arrives in Abu Dhabi at 6.18pm
- 6.14pm, arrives in Abu Dhabi at 7.18pm
The first train will leave Abu Dhabi at 6.43am, arriving at Dubai Station at 7.47am. The departures from Abu Dhabi to Dubai are scheduled for:
- 6.43am, arrives in Dubai at 7.47am
- 7.43am, arrives in Dubai at 8.47am
- 12.43pm, arrives in Dubai at 1.47pm
- 4.43pm, arrives in Dubai at 5.47pm
- 5.43pm, arrives in Dubai at 6.47pm
All services shown are direct, with a journey time of 1 hour and 4 minutes. Comfort tickets start from Dhs39, while Premium tickets start from Dhs109.
