Huawei smartphones getting a new ‘Find Friends’ feature
Huawei is rolling out a new feature for its smartphones called “Find Friends”. The latest capability, tagged with the HarmonyOS 7.0 software version, will enable users to search for their friends seamlessly via their handsets, without any interruptions.
A tipster noted that Huawei has added a new feature to MeeTime – Find Friends for its smartphones. It is currently available only on Mate XT 2 and Pura X View.
The feature primarily supports devices running on HarmonyOS 7.0. Perhaps the company will gradually expand the reach of this addition with its new software rollout.
Speaking of the feature, the tipster said that if a user and his/her friend are less than 500 meters away during a real-time intercom call, they can enable this new feature and use its guidance to find their friend. However, one must note that:
- Both (the user and friend) should be in an outdoor open area or in a state of accurate positioning.
- Both persons should be within the NearLink connection range
- Devices should support the NearLink Search feature
When a user meets these standards, they can click the search icon on their friend’s avatar to quickly find them. The feature will further prevent people from getting lost while meeting outdoors or finding someone in a shopping mall. One can even use their phone’s camera to help calibrate the direction and distance.
