Liverpool Take Early Advantage
Liverpool have reportedly moved ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for Brentford defender Michael Kayode, according to Caught Offside. The Italy international is said to sit at the top of the Reds’ right-back shortlist as they look to bolster their options in that area.

No formal offer has been lodged with Brentford, but Liverpool are understood to be the club closest to making a move, as things stand. A January departure looks unlikely, although the Bees may be open to selling next summer. Reports suggest the west London side could ask for between £51m and £55m.
Kayode’s Rise in England
The 22-year-old made his name at Fiorentina in Serie A, attracting interest from several leading English clubs before arriving at Brentford on loan in January 2025. The Bees activated their option to make the move permanent that May.
He has since become a dependable presence, making 44 appearances last season and seven so far this term. Kayode is known for his relentless energy, strong tackling, recovery pace and ability to win duels. He also earned his first Italy cap recently under Roberto Mancini.
Why Liverpool Need a Right-Back
Right-back remains a problem area at Anfield. Jeremie Frimpong has looked shaky defensively since leaving Bayer Leverkusen, while Conor Bradley’s form after a serious knee injury is difficult to predict. Ronald Araujo has been used there as a makeshift option, though a natural specialist would suit the manager better.
Arsenal Remain a Threat
Arsenal could prove Liverpool’s biggest rivals for the Italian. Persistent talk of a possible Ben White exit next year means the Gunners may look for a high-profile replacement, and Kayode would fit that profile.
What Could Happen Next?
Kayode’s age, athleticism and Premier League experience make him an appealing target, and the asking price looks fair in today’s inflated market. Liverpool’s need is clear, yet Arsenal’s potential vacancy could turn this into a genuine tussle. Brentford will hold the cards, and patience may bring a better price.
