As per latest injury news, Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis was taken off of Greece’s Nations League match against the Netherlands within just 18 minutes. The early withdrawal has raised concern at the club, with the summer signing enjoying a strong start to life in the Premier League.

Christos Tzolis forced off after bright start

Tzolis was named in Greece’s starting XI for their clash with the Netherlands. He made an immediate impact on the left side and had the ball in the net during the opening stages. However, the goal did not count as Vangelis Pavlidis was in an offside position, meaning Greece were denied an early breakthrough.

Tzolis went down a few minutes later and appeared to be struggling with an issue in his right leg. Medical staff came over to check the winger, who looked visibly upset as he covered his face with his hands. Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic did not take any chances and brought Giorgos Masouras onto the pitch. Tzolis had been involved in some promising moments before his departure, but his night ended far earlier than expected.

As reported by The Sun, the Arsenal player will undergo further checks to discover whether he has suffered a hamstring strain or another muscle problem.

Arsenal wait for more updates on Tzolis’ injury

The timing is not ideal for Mikel Arteta, especially after Tzolis has made a positive impression since joining Arsenal last summer. The winger arrived from Club Brugge in a club-record £35m deal and has become a key attacking option. Another injury could interrupt his progress at a time when Arsenal are trying to maintain a strong start to the season.

Tzolis is also not the only Arsenal player to have faced an issue during the international break. Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Ezri Konsa have all been injured, while Declan Rice and Piero Hincapie withdrew from their national teams because of fitness concerns.

That growing list could make Tzolis’ assessment even more important for Arteta. Arsenal have a busy schedule ahead and will need as many attacking players available as possible. There was at least one positive sign during the Greece match. Tzolis did not appear to require treatment away from the bench after being substituted, which may offer some hope that the problem is not too serious.

Tzolis hopes for quick return

Rather than heading back to the dressing room, Tzolis remained with the substitutes for the rest of the first half. He was also seen reacting positively to Greece’s goals from the bench.

Masouras, who replaced him, made a major contribution after coming on. He helped create Fotis Ioannidis’ opener and then found the net himself in stoppage time. For Tzolis, however, the result was less important than finding out the extent of his injury. The winger has quickly become a player to watch at Arsenal, and another spell on the sidelines would be frustrating after his strong start. He will now wait for the medical assessment before knowing how long he may be unavailable.

A hamstring problem could require extra caution, particularly for a player who depends on pace and quick movement. Arsenal will therefore be keen to get a clear diagnosis before making any decision over his return to training. For now, the club can only wait for the results of the checks. Tzolis’ condition will be monitored closely when he returns from international duty, with Arsenal hoping the scare does not turn into another long absence from football.
