Dubai Airport is hosting free Mallathon walks throughout August
Get your steps in at DXB as Dubai Mallathon heads beyond the malls for the first time
If you’re travelling through Dubai International Airport this summer, you can now get your steps in while waiting for your flight. Dubai Mallathon is bringing its popular indoor walking and running concept to DXB, making the airport the first non-mall venue to host the citywide fitness initiative.
The programme is designed to help people stay active during Dubai’s hotter months by turning air-conditioned spaces into places to walk and run.
The first event took place last week
DXB held its first Mallathon session on Friday August 7, with part of Terminal 3 transformed into an indoor walking route.
The airport will now host more sessions every Friday throughout August, bringing together airport employees, community partners and members of the public.
Join the next walk for free
The next session takes place on Friday August 14 at Terminal 3, Concourse B. There will be two sessions to choose from, running from 7.30am to 9.30am and 9.30am to 11.30am.
Participants can choose between a 750-metre route or a longer 1.5-kilometre walk, making it suitable for different ages and fitness levels.
There’s no cost to join and no registration is required.
What is Dubai Mallathon?
Dubai Mallathon was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
The initiative transforms shopping malls across Dubai into air-conditioned walking and running tracks during the summer, making exercise more accessible when temperatures soar.
The 2025 edition attracted more than 40,000 participants, who clocked up more than 120 million steps across participating malls. It also set a Guinness World Records title for the Most Runners in a Mall Run Event.
The 2026 edition is running across participating malls until September 15, with DXB now taking the concept outside the traditional mall setting.
Where to join the DXB walk
If you’re travelling through Terminal 3 and want to take part, head to the Family Zone near Gate B28 in Concourse B.
