Prestigious British school Harrow to open in Abu Dhabi in 2027
Following its August 2026 opening in Dubai, Harrow Abu Dhabi will welcome students to Saadiyat Island from August 2027
Prestigious British school Harrow has confirmed it will open in Abu Dhabi next year, welcoming students to its state-of-the-art Saadiyat Island campus from August 2027.
One academic year after opening in Dubai, the acclaimed academic institute will open Harrow International School Abu Dhabi, announcing on Instagram that it will ” the heritage, traditions and values of Harrow School to the capital.”
First announced in March 2025, Harrow Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island is located near Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, NYUAD, and the Berklee College of Music and will feature state-of-the-art facilities and innovative learning spaces for children from FS1, right through to Sixth Form. In Dubai, Harrow is currently welcoming students in Early Years through Year 6, and will then scale to a full capacity of around 1,800–2,000 boys and girls. Abu Dhabi’s Harrow school will also begin teaching up to Year 6, with Years 7 to 13 set to be added in future academic years.
Earlier this month, Harrow Abu Dhabi announced that Adrian Frost would be Founding Head Master of Harrow Abu Dhabi, with applications now open for admissions from next year. According to the website, Tuition fees start from Dhs74,100 for FS1, rising to Dhs125,275 for Sixth Form.
If you’re not familiar, Harrow has a storied 450-year past as one of the UK’s most renowned educational institutions. Founded in 1572 under a royal charter from Elizabeth I, Harrow’s alumni list reads like a highlight reel of British and world history: Winston Churchill, several other UK prime ministers and India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, among them.
Legacy schools coming to the UAE
Harrow isn’t the only acclaimed British school making its way to the UAE. Looking ahead in the capital, Harrow Abu Dhabi will be joined by Epsom College from September 2028, and the same year will see King’s College School Wimbledon bring its near-200-year academic pedigree to Fahid Island. Perhaps the most renowned name in British academia, Gordonstoun — alma mater of the British monarch, King Charles III, and reportedly attended for a summer by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, is also slated to arrive in Abu Dhabi next year, with its first campus outside of the UK under construction on Jubail Island.
