The UAE’s first curl festival is coming to Dubai this October
From tackling Dubai’s humidity to finding the right products for your curls, this festival promises a day of tips, demos, activities and community fun
Got curls in Dubai? We’ve got some great news for you (and your locks). Dubai’s curly-haired community is getting a festival of its own – Dubai Curl Festival courtesy of Oh My Knots.
Taking place on Saturday, October 10, the UAE’s first community-led platform dedicated to curly, coily and kinky hair will bring together all the curly girls in Dubai under one roof. Expect all things curly-related from experts sharing golden tips to leading brands that work best for your natural locks.
If you do have curls, you know the challenge of taking care of them in the Gulf. Humidity, hardwater, heat – they all play a part a big part in how your hair will look during the day. And research conducted by Oh My Knots found that 69% of its community are actively seeking UAE-specific product recommendations, while 77% want simpler routines using fewer products rather than complicated multi-step regimens.
Speaking on the festival, Gertrud Mackenzie, the founder of Oh My Knots stated, “Dubai Curl Festival is something I wanted to create because our community has been asking for a space like this.”
She added that while plenty of information is available online, a lot of it is not applicable to curly-haired girls living in the Gulf.

She hopes that this festival will bring together people, giving them access to experts and brands together to offer a space ‘where curls are celebrated rather than treated as something that needs to be fixed.’
If you’re attending, you’ll receive expert education, brand demonstrations, wellness sessions and interactive activations. The event will also include live demonstrations and styling talks throughout the day, offering practical advice, expert techniques and plenty of inspiration for the curly-hair community.
Got little ones and teens with curls? There will be a dedicated kids’ curl corner where they will see all curly hair types positively represented. A great boost to help them celebrate their curls.
