CXMT announced that its 5th-gen DRAM chip has entered mass production. It is good news for China and the chipmaker’s new progress will directly contribute to the country’s growth in the DRAM market against top-end memory chipset makers.
The Chinese tech giant hasn’t revealed any key details about the new memory, but it has confirmed the mass production stage for CXMT 5th-gen DRAM chip.
DRAM, or Dynamic Random Access Memory, is a working memory, usually found in phones, computers, and other devices to run applications and heavy programs.
Based on the details, the upcoming DRAM will rely on a cutting-edge platform to make more powerful memory chips at lower cost and with less power usage. CXMT said it will offer an additional source of supply for chips used in phones to electronics makers.
In addition, the company mentioned that the 5th-generation FRAM has tiny structures to store data closer together, allowing more memory to fit on each chip. Besides, it has reduced the spacing of key features that store data to 12 billionths of a meter.
Luo Xiaodong, CXMT’s vice president and head of its marketing center, said at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention:
“Our quadruple patterning process capability is now on par with the most advanced mass-produced nodes out there in the industry.”
CXMT has already launched two new 24-gigabit LPDDR5X chips based on the new platform. Each chip holds 50% more data than the previous versions. The platform is capable of producing at least 50% more gross chip dies per wafer than its 4th-gen DRAM.
