Counterpoint has revealed the journey of the unified Huawei RAN Agent. The ultimate network technology is not just a single solution but an advanced and open ecosystem that connects business agents effectively through the new A2A-T protocol.
According to the report, Huawei introduced the unified RAN Agent at MWC 2026 Barcelona. Instead of showcasing it as a single AI tool, the company has presented the tech as a model that can operate multiple AI functions across the radio access network.
Unified RAN Agent mainly revolves around three cores:
- Agentic MBB for intelligent mobile broadband
- Adaptive AI for contextual awareness
- A2A-T for inter-agent communications
Over the past two years, Huawei has significantly transformed its objective for RAN technologies. Rather than focusing on just enabling individual areas for engineers, the tech maker looked at how it can manage entire networks of radio access nodes.
Huawei’s unified RAN Agent can handle and incorporate many AI functions in the radio network compared to traditional solutions and promises smarter performance.

The company has launched its first RAN Smart Agents at the 2024 Global Analyst Summit in China. The tech simply focuses on augmenting network operators by improving decision-making and operational efficiency through AI-assisted workflows.
As per the report, this version mainly assisted operators in network planning, fault diagnosis, parameter optimization, and workflow automation. In 2025, the company brought in the next stage of evolution with RAN agents handling network functions, fault management, optimization, maintenance, and energy efficiency.
But the unified RAN Agent debuted this year, claiming to optimize planning, execution, and assurance with multiple agents across domains working in tandem.
