We thank Fujii and colleagues1 for their thoughtful comments and their interest in our work, in which we developed the MetALD-ALD Prediction Index (MAPI), a scalable and accurate biomarker panel using routine clinical and laboratory parameters (sex, mean corpuscular volume [MCV], gamma-glutamyl transferase [GGT], high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol [HDL-C], and hemoglobin [Hb]A1c) for identifying metabolic dysfunction and alcohol-associated liver disease (MetALD) or alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD).
