100+ Portland Artists Open Their Studios Across the City, Portland – Oct 10–18, 2026
Portland Open Studios returns for two free weekends, giving visitors a self-guided chance to step inside the studios of more than 100 juried Portland-area artists. Painters, printmakers, ceramicists, photographers, fiber artists, sculptors, jewelry makers, and other creatives open their workspaces from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 10–11 and 17–18, offering a much more intimate look at how Portland art gets made than a conventional gallery visit. It’s one of the city’s best annual opportunities to meet artists where they actually work, see works in progress, ask questions, and potentially buy directly from the people making it. A Two-Artist Show on Displacement and Home-Building, Portland
Gwen Hoeffgen and Domenic Toliver’s “We Built You a Garden” at The BLACK Gallery turns a multimedia installation into a meditation on what it means to put down roots when a neighborhood keeps changing around you. Part of this month’s citywide Portland Textile Month, the show pairs fabric, image, and object into a quietly personal narrative of Black Portland’s displacement and resilience. Oregon ArtsWatch
A Portland Painter on Melodrama, Camp, and the American Dream, Portland
In a new interview, Portland-based painter Yuyang Zhang talks about using acrylic, camp, and internet “brainrot” imagery to paint the gap between the American dream and the reality queer Chinese immigrants actually live. It’s a candid look at how a young artist is translating online absurdism into gallery-ready work. Art & About PDX

A 17th Annual Juried Show Turning Trash Into Fine Art, Eugene – thru Oct 31, 2026
MECCA’s Object Afterlife Art Challenge asks artists to transform scrap fabric, cork, old film, and other discarded materials into gallery-worthy work, with visitors voting for a viewer’s-choice award throughout October. It’s a scrappy, hands-on counterpoint to a lot of this month’s more polished gallery fare, and the opening reception doubles as an awards night. Eugene Weekly
200 Tiny Artworks Rescued From Eugene’s Old Parking Meters, Eugene – thru Nov 30, 2026
Over 50 Eugene artists secretly tucked circular artworks into downtown parking meters throughout 2025 — what organizer Jud Turner calls “the largest illegal group art show in the history of Eugene” — and when the city swapped in vandal-resistant meters, Oblivion Gallery rescued and is now selling more than 200 of the pieces for about $30 each. Proceeds split between the artists, the gallery, and the West Eugene Warehouse District Art Hop. OPB

Astoria’s Galleries Throw Open Their Doors for Second Saturday Art Walk, Astoria – Oct 10, 2026
Astoria’s monthly Second Saturday Art Walk takes over downtown from noon to 8 p.m., with galleries and shops opening their doors for an evening of art, artists, refreshments, and wandering. It’s a low-key way to sample the North Coast’s unusually dense creative scene, with participating venues marked by colorful pinwheels and a mix of exhibitions, local artists, and gallery events along the downtown streets. Admission is free, making it an easy add-on to a day in Astoria — and a particularly good excuse to see what’s new in town before the fall gallery season winds down. Richard Newman, a multiple best-of-show winner at Trail’s End Art Association’s annual judged exhibitions, fills the Gearhart gallery with a month of landscape, wildlife, and black-and-white architectural photography. Some of his European black-and-white work was previously licensed by ABC for “Criminal Minds” — a fun hook for an otherwise understated nature-photography show. Discover Our Coast

Three Artists Blend Surreal Scenes, Pop-Culture Collage, and Streetscapes, Bend – thru Nov 4, 2026
Layor Gallery’s “Known and Imagined” brings together Jesse Lockwood’s subconscious-tinged surrealism, Matthew Nicolau’s comic-book and pop-culture collage work, and John Sherry’s pastel streetscapes into one downtown Bend show. Gallery owner Lacey Champagne frames it as a study of the space between what we observe and what we invent. Bend Bulletin
