Meanwhile, Ryouga sends a challenge to Ranma. A week later, Cologne catches him in pig form to eat. He transforms in the pot, causing Shampoo to explain who he is. When Cologne realizes Ryouga has a thing for Akane, she offers to train him. He refuses, but can’t find the exit. Eventually, he makes his way out and tries to fight Ranma, who has a gold fish bowl with an eel in it.

Again, Ranma has no effort destroying Ryouga. Akane dispatches Ranma for picking on Ryouga. In shame, Ryouga flees. That night, Cologne finds him. This time, he’s more receptive to her training and is astonished when she reveals her Shattering Point technique.

Thoughts/Review

Frank me! I forgot how INSANELY CRAPPY the Netflix “localizer” destroys the subtitles of thjis series. Ranma 1/2 25 reminded me quick. Besides the usual, “I hate Japanese people” disdain for the Japanese script, using incorrect names and almost no honorifics save for “-senpai”, there were some humdingers of incorrectness. Why do people like this get to keep their job? Nevermind. It is “Fist of Tianjin Sweet Chestnuts in the Fire” not your Christmas joke, “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire” BS. But I digress.

Ranma 1/2 25

As to the story, we get the insanely cliched, “the girl can’t cook” moment. Despite how old and abused the trope is, I will give MAPPA credit for still finding a way to make me laugh. That’s in spite of the rage I felt (and still felt) at reading the excrement for subtitles.

Ranma 1/2 25

On the other hand, Akane is such an insufferable cow. For someone supposedly so smart, she sure is dumb when it comes to cooking. “I dumped 50 billion things into a pot. Where was my mistake? Ranma sucks for not liking this toxic sludge I made even though even I can’t eat it.” I’m so glad that in MAO, Takahashi-sensei has gotten away from this idiotic trope.

Finally, we’ve got a setup for yet another boring fight between Ranma and Ryouga, spurred on by Cologne. But we’ll have to wait for next week for that to come.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, Ranma 1/2 25 did make me laugh despite the rage I feel at the excrement “localization” inflicted upon my eyes in the subtitles. But the story itself is fairly cliched and boring.
