Steelbird Hi-Tech India Limited, which is among the largest helmet manufacturing companies in the world, is enjoying impressive growth in the backdrop of rising demand in India’s helmet industry. Indian consumers are paying more attention to fashion, technology, comfort, and price rather than safety.
The company’s aftermarket business grew by 30% on a year-on-year basis in the first half of the current fiscal year. Steelbird manufactured 5.621 million helmets along with pannier boxes in April to September 2026 period. With the festive season still ahead, the company is positive about producing an all-time high of 12 million helmets in FY 2026-27.
Manufacturing 5.621 million helmets and pannier boxes in the first six months of the fiscal year is an indication of Steelbird’s impressive manufacturing capacity and market demand. The company expects further acceleration in the coming months due to the start of the festive season. The festive season has always played an important part in the Indian two-wheeler and automotive aftermarket.
The rapidly growing aftermarket segment is proving instrumental in the company’s growth owing to changing consumer preferences. As the Indian two-wheeler market is maturing at a rapid pace, buyers do not consider helmets as simply essential safety products anymore. Appearance, comfort, features, technology, and cost-efficiency also form important considerations while buying helmets.
Steelbird is constantly expanding its product range to keep up with this change by introducing innovative and stylish helmets designed to meet the evolving needs of Indian riders. The company’s continued focus on introducing new products for the aftermarket has helped it strengthen its consumer connect and capitalize on the growing demand for helmets that offer safety, modern design, and a superior riding experience.

This shift in consumer behavior is creating significant growth opportunities, especially in the aftermarket, and Steelbird has been successful in capitalizing on this trend through continuous product innovation. Our aftermarket business has grown by 30% year-on-year, and between April and September, we have already produced 56.21 lakh helmets and pannier boxes. With the festive season just around the corner, we are confident of producing 1.20 crore helmets this fiscal year.”

We will continue to invest in innovative products and designs relevant to the Indian market, while maintaining our focus on safety and quality. The upcoming festive season is expected to further accelerate the market, and we are fully prepared to meet the growing demand. Our aim is to make helmets more attractive and technologically relevant, without compromising on their core purpose-to protect riders.”
In addition to its product strategy, Steelbird is also rapidly strengthening its retail presence across the country. The company’s exclusive Steelbird Rider Shopee network has grown to 390 outlets, further strengthening the reach of its products to consumers in key markets. Steelbird has set an ambitious target of expanding this network to 1,000 Rider Shopee outlets.
This will further strengthen the company’s direct consumer connect and provide riders with a wide range of helmets and riding products through a dedicated retail space. The company believes that strong aftermarket opportunities, changing consumer preferences, continued product innovation, an expanded retail network, and the upcoming festive season will remain key drivers of growth in the coming months.
With 56.21 lakh helmets and pannier boxes produced in the first half of FY 2026-27 and a 30% year-on-year growth in the aftermarket business, Steelbird is on track to achieve its target of producing 1.20 crore helmets during the financial year. The company is further strengthening its position in the global helmet industry and continuously working towards making safety, innovation, and design more accessible to riders in India and international markets.
