Four cross-dressing men held for allegedly demanding money from BMW owner


Jubilee Hills police arrested four men accused of posing as hijras and demanding money from motorists and others. The arrests followed a video showing them stopping a BMW owner and asking him for ₹5,000, police said.

The incident took place on August 21 outside True Black Coffee on Road No. 45 in Jubilee Hills. According to additional inspector Satyanarayana, the young man had visited the café in his newly purchased BMW. As he was leaving, four people dressed as hijras allegedly stopped him and demanded money.

A YouTuber at the scene recorded the encounter and posted the video on X. Telangana Director General of Police C V Anand responded to the post and directed Jubilee Hills police to investigate the incident.

Police said they examined about 500 CCTV cameras over a month and traced the suspects’ route from Jubilee Hills to Boduppal. With help from the task force police, they identified and detained the four men in Boduppal.

The suspects were identified as Ramesh, 40, a daily-wage worker, Satyanarayana, 41, Ramesh, 42, and Yadagiri, 44. All four are residents of Kakatiya Kalanagar in Boduppal, police said.

Police alleged that the men had been dressing as hijras and stopping people on roads to demand money. They were also accused of seeking money at housewarming ceremonies and newly opened shops, using threats and force. Inspector Satyanarayana said the four were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
