The Indian men’s badminton team kicked off its campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in style with an emphatic victory. The Indian team registered a dominant 3-0 win over Bangladesh in their first match on Monday and progressed to the quarterfinal stage of the competition. Players like Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth contributed towards the team’s victory in the first round match.
Lakshya Sen was the star performer for the Indian team and helped them register a victory in the first match. Lakshya Sen showed his aggressive game in the opening match and overwhelmed Bangladesh’s Ayman Ibn Zaman from the very beginning. Lakshya started dominating the Bangladesh player and easily won the first game 21-4. Lakshya continued playing aggressively in the second game and won 21-12. The Indian player used his smashing skills and fast game to win against the Bangladesh player.
In the second match of the Indian team, the Indian player, Ayush Shetty who made news recently because of his performance at the BWF World Championships adopted an aggressive playing style against Gaurav Singha from the start. In the second game, Srikanth capitalized on his experience and played brilliantly, denying Jumar any chance to make a comeback. He won the second game 21-10 to seal India’s 3-0 victory.
