Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Episodes 49 and 50 Delayed to October

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is delaying its next two episodes as the anime heads toward its climax. Episodes 49 and 50 have been pushed into October 2026, with the production committee citing additional quality improvements as the reason for the schedule change.

Episode 49, which is the ninth episode of The Calamity, will now premiere on TV Tokyo on October 19, followed by BS TV Tokyo on October 20. Streaming releases across various platforms will also begin on October 20.

Episode 50, the tenth episode of The Calamity, will then air on TV Tokyo on October 26, with BS TV Tokyo following on October 27.

Updated Bleach TYBW Schedule

The revised schedule is straightforward:

  • Episode 49: October 19, 2026
  • Episode 50: October 26, 2026

The delay means viewers will have to wait several additional weeks before the main story resumes.

Bleach Will Air Climax Selection Episodes During the Break

While production continues on the upcoming episodes, TV Tokyo will fill the gap with a selection of previously released Thousand-Year Blood War episodes.

The scheduled Climax Selection broadcasts are:

  • September 19: Episode 7, “BORN IN THE DARK”
  • September 26: Episode 28, “KILL THE KING”
  • October 5: Episode 46, “THE END”
  • October 12: Episode 48, “THE END TWO WORLD”

The selection gives fans a chance to revisit important moments from the final arc before the story moves forward with Episode 49.

Production Team Wants More Time for the Climax

According to the production committee, the schedule change is intended to provide the staff with additional time to improve the remaining episodes.

With the anime approaching its conclusion, the committee said it wants to deliver the final episodes in the best possible condition. The production team also apologized to viewers for the additional wait and confirmed that work on the conclusion of the anime is continuing.

This is not the first scheduling adjustment for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, which has previously changed its streaming schedule across several platforms in Japan.

Bleach’s Final Arc Is Entering Its Endgame

Created by Tite Kubo, BLEACH was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 until 2016, concluding after 74 volumes. The manga has surpassed 130 million copies in circulation worldwide, establishing the series as one of the biggest manga franchises of its generation.

The original anime ran from 2004 to 2012 and spawned four theatrical movies. The franchise returned to television in 2022 with BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War, adapting the manga’s final storyline.

The fourth and final part is scheduled to arrive in July 2026 and is expected to expand beyond the original manga. Kubo has previously confirmed that the final part will include additional anime-original material, particularly around the series’ climactic battles.

For now, fans will have to wait until October for the next chapter of The Calamity. With the production team specifically citing quality improvements, the extra time is being used to polish the anime as it approaches the finish line.
