Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 220 Manga Review

SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:
Ignia and Natsu clash, where Natsu eats more flame to keep powered up. In response, Ignia puts an inedible flame tornado around Natsu. As a result, Natsu somehow causes the tornado to vanish. He attacks Ignia and demands to know what Ignia’s plan is. Ignia answers that he plans to use the fire god sun to burn everything to ash, including his former allies. Natsu yells this to Happy and orders him to flee.
Elsewhere, Eric (Erik) realizes the same thing. He and Sawyer are joined by Merudy. Eric wants her to inform Macbetch, Richard, and Sorano this by linking up with Happy.
Laxus wakes up in the Domain of Souls. He meets Wraith, who warns him not to cross over to Wraith’s location. After a brief chat, Laxus senses Wendy’s power surging through him. He leaves the apparent afterlife to emerge and punch Levia in the face, breaking his cage.
Thoughts/Review:
I noticed that Ueda-sensei tried to inject a bit of Mashima-sensei humor into Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 220. I’d noticed how much humor Mashima-sensei injects into the stories he draws. Ueda-sensei mostly avoids it, which is fine. However, Eric’s discussion with Sawyer about different things led to a gag moment. It wasn’t funny, but whatever.
That aside, I feel like I want to press the fast-forward button on a remote. I’m already weary of Natsu’s battle with Ignia. I actually had to look up Levia’s name since I couldn’t remember it. There too, I’m weary of the fight because it is meaningless. Laxus will likely win next chapter and that will be that.
If we see Ignia have some sort of arse pull, then know that Mashima-sensei is attempting to stretch the story out more. Otherwise, I really do feel like the manga is really starting to wind down.
Finally, I guess it was nice to see Wraith again. Not sure why the Domain of Souls seemed to have souls for various people close to Laxus. That aside, Laxus got his nakama power injection and off he went. 🤷♂️
Final Thoughts and Conclusion
In the end, I won’t say Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 220 is a bad chapter. It is just a chapter where I kept thinking, “spin on!” (Brownie points if you get the reference.)
