Man Pushed From CTA Red Line Train by Three People Identified as Amazon Worker Heading Home From Work
Kyle Bickham, 29, punched in for his shift at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero on Monday morning like any other day.
By afternoon, he was dead.
Three people pushed him from a moving CTA Red Line train near the 69th Street station as he was heading home to Lansing.
He fell onto the electrified third rail.
An oncoming train struck him before anyone could help.
The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled it a homicide.
Three suspects remain at large.
He Was Heading Home
Kyle Bickham was 29 years old.
He had been working at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero.
He was on his way back to Lansing when he boarded the CTA Red Line on Monday afternoon.
He never made it home.
His family described him as a light, goofy, kind, and caring person who was always able to bring laughter to those around him.
Kyle was loved. Kyle mattered.
What Happened
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, a fight erupted aboard a southbound CTA Red Line train in the first block of West 69th Street on the South Side.
Three people involved in the altercation pushed Bickham from the moving train near the 69th Street station.
Bickham fell onto the electrified third rail.
He was then struck by an oncoming Red Line train.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined he died of multiple injuries sustained when the train struck him.
The Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Police Initially Said He Jumped
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Chicago Police told the media that Bickham had jumped from the moving train.
That account was later corrected.
Chicago Police confirmed that three people pushed Bickham from the train during an altercation.
The Medical Examiner’s ruling of homicide confirmed that his death was not a suicide or an accident.
CTA Red Line Disrupted
The CTA issued an alert at 3:35 p.m. notifying riders that Red Line trains were running with major delays following a medical emergency on the tracks near 69th Street.
Bus shuttles were made available from 43rd to 95th streets in both directions to supplement service through 4 p.m.
The 69th Street Red Line station serves the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.
It is one of the busiest stations on the Red Line’s south branch, serving thousands of daily commuters traveling to and from the South Side.
His Family Speaks
In a statement, his parents said Kyle was kind, caring, and always able to bring laughter to those around him.
They confirmed he had been working at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero and was on his way home to Lansing when he was killed.
His nephew Chris Bickham Jr. created a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with funeral expenses, saying their hearts are completely broken.
His aunt posted publicly on social media asking the community for thoughts and prayers.
She said the family was already dealing with the devastating loss of Corey Bickham when Kyle was killed.
She said she was not sure how much more her family could take.

No Arrests
Area One detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
No arrests have been announced as of Friday, September 11, 2026.
