April was very busy work wise and so I buried myself in books to deal with it! This month I didn’t really have any focus for my reading(okay there was the Orilium readathon but I forgot about it until very near the end) so I was just focusing on reading overdue library books and books I own.

Favourite Book of the Month
This was a really tricky category this month because there were so many books that I had fun with, especially the Women’s Prize books (Ask Me How It Works, Nation of Strangers) and books that I got recommended (Kowloon, The Book of Guilt, The Manor of Dreams, This Monster of Mine) but I have to give this category to Notes From the Ginza Shihodo Stationery Shop. This is one of those ‘healing fiction’ books that come from Japan (and Korea) where there is a plot device/place where various people come and their lives are changed. But I enjoyed how this book was written and also the descriptions of stationery is making me drool.
Least Favourite Book of the Month
While I found Ice and wounds and Body Check very annoying with how they handled their tropes, I thought that Born Royal was boring and done badly. I can’t even remember the ending now and I only finished it two weeks ago. Thankfully it was free!
Reading Updates
I got the prompts filled for the Orilium Readathon but otherwise I just wandered all over the place for this month. The books I read were either library books or books I own already (though there are a couple of KU books in there). No ARCs this month but hopefully next month!
I read 11 books I owned and I bought 31 so my TBR is wildly out of balance again! I’ve signed up for a reading challenge in May so I plan to try and read a lot of my library books before the challenge starts (17th May) and then focus on all the books I own. Whether that actually happens is another matter.
