The food you nourish your body with halfway through the day sets the stage for the afternoon. It can be the difference between peak productivity and performance and feeling sluggish, dragging through work and thinking about your next meal.
We’ve come up with a list of our own personal favorite carnivore lunch ideas. Because the same complaints we get time and time again is that carnivore is boring and repetitive. These gourmet carnivore diet lunch ideas prove that’s not the case! And even when you don’t have time for a full meal and just need something quick and easy, our meat chips satisfy cravings and keep you full until dinnertime.
Our FAVORITE Carnivore Lunch Ideas to Conquer the Second Half of the Day
Whether you’re craving something indulgent, something easy, or both, your new favorite carnivore diet lunch ideas are below.
1. Carnivore Snax Meat Chips
These carnivore chips are the best carnivore lunch ideas when you’re hungry but can’t afford to even spend time reheating anything. They’re carefully crafted from just two ingredients: regeneratively raised meat and salt. Nothing else. A perfect match for any carnivore diet plan.
They’re super filling with plenty of protein and healthy fats. And they’re absolutely amazing. Often called “meat pastries” because they start out with a light, airy crisp before melting in your mouth and giving way to tantalizing flavors.
They’re shelf-stable as well, so you can keep a bag at home in the pantry, in your desk drawer at work, in your gym bag, and anywhere else you might need to reach for a quick bite on the go.
There’s a cut for every preference, too, and you can keep things fresh and fun with all the different varieties. Some of our personal favorites are:
They’re the perfect carnivore lunch ideas for work, at home, and anywhere in between.
2. Lamb Chops With Bone Marrow Reduction
People forget that lamb is even an option – yet, it’s one of the best meats to eat on carnivore diet. Lamb chops are one of the most nutrient-dense options you have at your fingertips. They pack all sorts of protein and essential minerals like iron and zinc.
Our favorite way to enjoy them for lunch is with a nice bone marrow reduction. This adds a really unique flavor profile but also brings more healthy fats. Bone marrow is a carnivore staple for a reason.
You can use any approved seasonings on carnivore diet (salt is our go-to). Sear them on high heat so they develop a crust. Roast bones until they’re soft, scoop out the marrow, and simmer it with a splash of broth until a velvety sauce forms.
3. Ground Beef Egg Scramble
One of the classic carnivore diet lunch ideas you can never go wrong with – ground beef with scrambled eggs. You can batch prep a pound of ground beef at the start of every week, and then you just need to whip up some eggs on the skillet. You can throw in the ground beef right into the skillet while the eggs are cooking so everything mixes together nicely.
This one is really easy to take in a Tupperware container and heat up at work. There are plenty of ways you can spice it up, too. Use any approved seasonings or if you’re following a somewhat modified carnivore diet, drizzle some hot sauce over it.
4. Steak and Tallow
Probably the most classic of all carnivore lunch ideas. Sear a ribeye or strip in rendered beef tallow on a cast iron skillet. That’s really all there is to it! You get this sort of richness from the tallow that’s hard to beat. And, it brings extra fat to keep you full all afternoon.
5. Duck Breast with Crispy Skin
A refreshing change of pace from chicken. Duck is much richer, and it brings you a delectable combination of tender meat with crispy skin. It’s packed with healthy fats, too.
Getting the texture just right can be a challenge, though. It takes some trial and error. We’ve found the best way to get a crispy skin (without scorching it) is scoring the skin, seasoning the breast, and searing it skin-side down to render the fat.
Then, it’s as simple as cooking it in the oven to your preferred level of doneness. You’re left with a more succulent, luxurious lunch with tons of protein. It’s obviously one that you’ll need to prepare in advance or spend some time at home with.
6. Carnivore Pizza
We know what you’re thinking…I don’t have time to make a pizza for lunch! Hear us out, though. You can make this the night before and then eat slices the next day for your carnivore diet lunch ideas! Who doesn’t love cold pizza leftovers?
Wait – how can you eat pizza on the carnivore diet? The crust will have to be made from egg, as with most carnivore-friendly “bread” alternatives. Or, you can make it from ground chicken or beef. This gives you a nice protein-rich base for all your toppings.
Preheat your oven to 350°F. This is a good time to season your ground meat with sea salt while the oven warms up. Press the meat into a thin, even layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can use a roller to create a round or rectangular shape.
Bake the meat crust for 10-15 minutes or until it’s nearly cooked through – but not all the way brown yet. Then you can take it out of the oven, drain any excess liquid, and top the crust with cooked meats (we prefer pepperoni and sausage). Sprinkle in some cheese. Go BACK into the oven and let everything broil for a few minutes until the cheese melts and the edges of the meat crust are crispy. Enjoy!
7. Bison Burger With Egg
Why not treat yourself with one of the most delicious carnivore lunch ideas? A bison burger with a fried egg on it. So good! Bison is one of our favorite lower-fat alternatives to beef. The egg is packed with healthy fats and its own protein, along with key nutrients like choline.
Season the bison patty with salt and pepper. Then grill it to your liking. You can start frying an egg at the same time. You want to get a slightly runny yolk. It’s going to make for a natural, creamy sauce-like effect when you bite into the burger.
You can use a carnivore-friendly bun if you want, or eat it protein style. We like to add bacon to ours for a delightful crunch and extra flavor.
8. Carnivore Chicken Strips
You can’t go wrong with chicken at lunchtime if you know you’re going to eat a bunch of fat for dinner. But, chicken on its own is so boring. We found a way to make it more exciting, and it’s one of our favorite carnivore diet lunch ideas. You can use crushed pork rinds as “flour,” breading the chicken before you cook it. Carnivore-friendly chicken strips!
Cut breasts into strips, season, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with the pork rind crumbs. Then, fry the strips in a skillet until they’re golden and cooked all the way through. This is one of those lunches on carnivore diet that you’ll go back to time and time again.
9. Chicken Liver Pâté with Pork Rinds
Maybe you’re looking for something a little more upscale. Look no further than chicken liver pâté with pork rinds! It’s a nutritional powerhouse thanks to the liver. You get tons of vitamin A and iron. Yet, it doesn’t feel like you’re eating organ meats.
Satué chicken livers with butter until they’re cooked through. Then you can blend them with more butter, seasoning, and a splash of cream. Wait until the concoction is smooth. Chill to set, then dip your pork rinds in and enjoy!
10. Carnivore Sandwiches
One of the final carnivore lunch ideas to consider is a sandwich. There are so many different directions you can take this. We like to keep it simple – eggs and pork rinds paired with a meat.
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Crush up a bag of pork rinds into a fine powder using either a rolling pin or food processor. Beat eggs until they’re fluffy. Fold in the crushed pork rinds and add some salt. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper – you want the mixture to be about ½” thick. Bake until you have golden edges and the center is still firm to the touch. Should be around 15-20 minutes.
Voilá – you have your own carnivore bread! Now just make the sandwich, be it with bacon, ham, steak, or anything in between.
