Dubai Fountain resumes with adjusted shows

The Dubai Fountain is back on, but performances will be a little different for now

If you’re heading to Downtown Dubai this week, there’s an update worth knowing. Dubai Fountain shows have resumed following a short pause, with a quieter presentation in place during the emirate’s official mourning period.

What’s changed?

The Dubai Fountain was temporarily paused following the announcement of official mourning in Dubai after the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The shows have now resumed, but with some changes. Emaar has confirmed that performances are running at a lower volume with a reduced soundtrack to reflect the mourning period. So, if you’re visiting Downtown Dubai over the coming days, you can still see the fountain in action, just in a more subdued format than usual.

Dubai’s official mourning period

Dubai announced 10 days of official mourning following the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Monday, September 21. Flags are being flown at half-mast across the emirate during this time. The adjusted presentation will remain in place until the mourning period comes to an end.

What about the usual shows?

Regular Dubai Fountain performances typically take place twice during the afternoon, followed by evening shows every 30 minutes between 6pm and 11pm. For now, visitors should expect the lower-volume, reduced-soundtrack presentation. Normal programming is expected to return following the mourning period, although Emaar has not announced further details at the time of writing.
