You might remember Mack from his BlitzChamps V run, where he won every match and defeated Justin Herbert in the final to claim the BlitzChamps crown and $30,000 charity prize.
Mack is one of the BlitzChamps veterans. After making the semifinals in his debut in BlitzChamps III, before losing to eventual champion Justin Reid in a sudden-death tiebreak, Mack returned for BlitzChamps IV, where he lost two matches against Herbert (thanks in part to a faulty internet connection). Mack would exact his revenge on both Reid and Herbert while becoming the champion of BlitzChamps V.
Outside of BlitzChamps, Mack’s love for chess has been well known for years. Earlier this year, he brought a board with him to challenge reporters during the media days leading up to Super Bowl LX. In 2024, he visited the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship in Toronto to make the ceremonial first move in a match between GM Ian Nepomniatchtchi and GM Hikaru Nakamura. During last year’s lead up to Halloween weekend, Mack famously donned a bishop costume before the game.
