This 4 episode mini-series, each one running about fifty minutes, is exactly the kind of follow up fans of Me and Thee like me were hoping for. It’s honestly one of the best shows to come out recently, and finding out the creators actually put together more episodes made me genuinely happy. I loved everything about this couple originally, how they got together, got married, and built a family, and this mini-series just picks that story back up and manages to pack a whole lot into just a few episodes, which made me really glad.
The show drops us right into their married life without wasting time. Thee’s trying to act more mature and grounded these days, though apparently his version of being sensible involves whisking his husband Peach off on a weekly honeymoon for half a year straight. Their two kids call them both dad, and honestly the two of them make for perfect parents. Meanwhile Peach wants to get back into photography, and that’s where a lot of the comedy kicks in, since Thee’s trying to be fully supportive while also refusing to let go of how overprotective he is when it comes to Peach. The storyline around Thee’s brother Rome and his bodyguard Mok also gets pushed forward in this one. We see Rome step up and get chosen as the next head of the mafia groups. Mok’s grown bored with his own job, so he decides to stick close to Rome and look after him instead. In its own sweet way, the show manages to have some genuinely thoughtful moments about setting boundaries and chasing what you actually want, all without ever losing its comedic edge. The main couple is just ridiculously adorable together. And just when you think things can’t get any more chaotic, Thee comes up with the idea that since their love story is so great, they should turn it into their own series. What follows is basically every well known couple from past shows lining up to audition for the roles based on them, except Thee isn’t satisfied with a single one of them. That includes Peach’s close friend from the original series, who can’t stop cracking up at how ridiculous the dialogue sounds and can’t believe this is genuinely how Peach and Thee talk to each other. The final half hour of this show had me laughing nonstop.
You can really tell Peach and Thee’s relationship is one that’s built to last. It’s honestly so heartwarming just watching how deeply they love each other and how well their life together has turned out. I also loved watching how Peach handles Thee’s ridiculous personality throughout. Every single moment between them is just soaked in love. I don’t think I’ve seen a couple that balances each other out this well while also giving the audience this much comfort just watching them. They have made their family as a couple with 2 kids and Peach’s sister (who also gets her GL story this time). I was also really happy that Mok and Thee’s relationship got a bit more screen time here. And bringing the trio back together with Rome doesn’t just give us more insight into their history, it also brings in a bunch of genuinely tender moments. The whole thing is light, sweet, and definitely makes you miss them, but it leaves you with this warm feeling by the end. And honestly, if the last fifteen to twenty minutes of cameo reveals doesn’t get you excited, something’s off with you. This is a perfect example of how a sequel should be done. Short, exactly the right length, no unnecessary padding anywhere. It gives fans real closure and leaves you with that warm, fuzzy feeling. (9/10)
