Editor’s note: A series of unfortunate events—sickness, logistical nightmares, emergencies (we’re fine)—struck the Stranger this week, which made reshuffling the Slog AM schedule necessary. Well, a certain fool editor dropped the fucking cards, and two people wrote Slog AM this morning. So, for the first and last time, we’re proud to present Bonus Slog and/or Slog Mid-AM. We haven’t given much thought to the name because, with any luck, we won’t have to.
You love to see it: “It is clear the MAGA base is now deserting [Trump] in record numbers,” writes the Hill, citing a poll showing Trump’s approval rating has reached an all-time low of 29 percent. Of course, none of that matters if the fasc-hole locks himself in the new bunker ballroom and refuses to leave come January 2029, but it’s nice to see people are continuing to turn on him, especially before the midterms.
Washington wants your babies: Wait, that sounds creepy. What I mean to say is that Governor Bob Ferguson’s office announced Monday that the state is expanding the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program to provide free preschool for thousands more children from low-income families.

Big news in Bagel Land: Hey Bagel (coincidentally founded and owned by Andrew Rubinstein, who founded Rubinstein Bagels, which closed its Capitol Hill location this week) will open a second location in West Seattle next year. He posted the, ahem, hole story on Instagram.

More Starbucks closures coming: The company is closing 250 “underperforming cafes,” though they’re not saying exactly which ones and where. Earlier this year, five Seattle locations closed, four of them unionized. In related news: Starbucks Workers United are still asking people to boycott.
