‘Evil Dead Wrath’ Rumor: Is Jane Levy’s Mia Coming Back?

A rumor out of a test screening says Jane Levy may be back as Mia in Evil Dead Wrath. Brad Miska, the Bloody Disgusting co-founder who now owns Dread Central, reported the whisper there on Monday, September 21, and was careful to say in the same breath that he has not been able to confirm it independently. New Line and the filmmakers have said nothing.
That is the full extent of it. One report, sourced to what someone saw at a screening, with the reporter flagging his own uncertainty. Treat it accordingly.
Why Mia Would Be a Strange Fit for 1972
Levy played Mia Allen in Fede Álvarez‘s 2013 Evil Dead, the addict whose friends take her to a cabin to get clean and who ends the film as its last survivor, chainsaw in hand. It remains one of the best-liked performances in the series.
The timeline is the complication. As we covered in June, producer Robert Tapert has said Wrath is set in 1972, decades before Mia’s story. Dread Central raises the same question: an older Mia in a framing device, a vision, or something else entirely would all be ways around it. None of that is reported. It is simply the puzzle the rumor creates.
What Is Confirmed About Wrath
Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) wrote and directed, with Sam Raimi and Tapert producing. The announced cast is Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, Ella Newton, Ella Oliphant and Elizabeth Cullen. Tapert has described it as a coming-of-age story shot to look like the decade it is set in. New Line has it dated for April 7, 2028, which leaves a very long runway for a secret to hold, or to leak properly.
Levy has been noncommittal about coming back in past interviews, and Bruce Campbell said in June that the franchise has deliberately moved away from Ash rather than circling back to its old faces. Until someone attached to the film says otherwise, Mia’s return belongs in the same drawer as every other test-screening rumor: plausible, fun to think about, unconfirmed.
