Daisy Edgar-Jones brings back the period pendant
Daisy Edgar-Jones is the latest actress to embrace method dressing, bringing a romantic, period-inspired jewellery look to the Sense and Sensibility press tour.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is putting the spotlight on the vintage pendant necklace. Ahead of the release of Sense and Sensibility, the actress stepped out in a champagne-coloured satin Vivienne Westwood gown featuring a plunging neckline and dramatic bow detailing. Completing the period-inspired look was an ornate vintage pendant necklace from Boucheron’s Private Collection, worn on a dark velvet choker.
The statement piece drew attention to the neckline, adding a romantic, vintage feel to an otherwise contemporary red-carpet look.
The styling is another example of method dressing, with actresses increasingly incorporating elements of their films into their press-tour wardrobes. With Sense and Sensibility arriving in cinemas on 25th September, Daisy’s romantic styling feels particularly fitting for the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel.
According to Google Trends data analysed by PRYA this week, searches for “vintage locket necklace” have increased by 70%, while “vintage jewellery” is up 20% and “large pendant necklace” has risen by 50%.

Daisy’s look is a great example of how method dressing is continuing to influence the way actresses approach film press tours this year. We saw a similar approach around Margot Robbie’s Wuthering Heights tour, where gothic-inspired styling and jewellery became part of the wider conversation around the film.
With Daisy, we’re seeing a softer interpretation of that idea. The ornate pendant and dark velvet choker immediately evoke a romantic, period feel, which works so well alongside the Sense and Sensibility aesthetic without looking like costume.
It’s interesting to see that influence extend into jewellery. Rather than simply accessorising an outfit, the necklace becomes part of the storytelling. The vintage pendant gives the look a sense of history and character, while its scale makes it feel relevant to the statement jewellery trend we’re seeing now.
The latest search data reflects that shift, with interest in vintage lockets, vintage jewellery and large pendant necklaces all increasing. It feels like people are looking for pieces with more personality and a sense of story, rather than jewellery that simply completes an outfit.
The statement necklace takes centre stage
Daisy’s look also mirrors a wider shift PRYA has been tracking across jewellery searches. The latest A/W Trend Report found that searches for “chunky necklace” have increased by 24% over the past three months, while “statement necklace” searches are also up 24% over the same period.
Google Trends data shows year-on-year increases of 50% for “statement necklace” and 100% for “collar necklace”.
The report also identified a move towards more substantial neckwear, with interest in oversized pendants, chunky chokers and sculptural necklace styles.
The latest weekly Google Trends data around vintage lockets, vintage jewellery and large pendant necklaces mirrors what PRYA has been seeing in its wider A/W jewellery trend research, pointing towards a continued appetite for jewellery that takes centre stage.
