So much of my life in the last few years has been filled with dogs, their food, what to feed, and running my business. It’s been all consuming, and while it’s been very fulfilling to grow it from a seed of an idea, to what it is today, I sometimes hanker after my older, more ‘glamorous’ life.
Having a sticky little pup who goes almost everywhere with me daily, and having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen making treats for dogs, has curtailed my mall-hopping tendencies a lot. What this means is that I’m quite out of touch with, well, everything! Don’t even ask me about beauty products – I don’t even know what is new, trending, or good in the market. I’m just using whatever I can find in my stash (that isn’t terribly expired! LOL) or buying something affordable online.
I have turned my mind to writing again. But less so about beauty. More about just making this a little dumping ground for thoughts that may pass through my mind, and keeping it an old-fashioned blog. Mostly, I thought to allow me to keep my hand in, because I miss writing.
And then, in the most spectacular of ways, my worlds of dog treats and beauty collided.
I was recently approached by the good people at Aesop skincare to make some doggy biscuits for their pet event. Aesop has always had a dog shampoo – Animal – and they were hosting a community event in Penang for this product.
The people at Aesop didn’t know me or about this blog – most don’t anymore LOL! but that’s ok – so this was something that popped up out of the blue, when they chanced upon our brand and website. Naturally, it was a proud moment for me to achieve some form of brand recognition. Goodness knows, I’ve worked hard enough the last 6 years for this!
But more than that, I could swear that I heard a faint boom as my past and present came crashing together.
Perhaps it was a sign that I should return to writing, even if in a maudlin sort of way. With short form videos and social media platforms taking up so much of attention these days, I cannot even be certain if anyone is still reading or consuming content like this. But if I’m to be honest, I don’t quite care, because the writing is for me, as it has always been.
If someone else is reading, then, welcome to my brain palace. But if no one does, it’s fine.
It took Aesop, dog biscuits, and a busy little life building a brand, to remind me that I need to carve out time for just me – and perhaps, this is it. My little sanctuary, as always.
See ya around 😉
