HALLOWEEN ART EXHIBITION! – PROF Richard Wiseman

I have some exciting news. As it’s coming up to Halloween, I thought that it would be fun to stage a creepy, uncanny, odd art exhibition!

For 30 years, I have studied ghostly experiences, and investigated alleged hauntings at Hampton Court and Edinburgh’s Underground Vaults. Now I would like you to help celebrate my love of all matters uncanny.

I am open to any type of artwork that is creepy, haunting, odd, or ghostly, and are especially interested in work from artists based on their firsthand paranormal experiences. Perhaps you seen a ghost, apparition, or unexplained entity? Maybe a person, or an animal, or an indistinct form? Or maybe you just want to produce something that is downright creepy!

It can be in any form, including pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolour, acrylic, oil, prints, collages, mixed media, photography, or 3D/sculptural works. Existing art is fine and of course it is great if you want to produce something for the event. And you don’t have to be a great artist – just give it a go!

This art will form part of a free, two-day (October 30th & 31st 2026) Halloween exhibition at The Undercroft below Edinburgh’s St Vincent’s Church. Visitors will explore the semi-dark gallery space in torchlight and discover the artworks lurking within the shadows.
