Can I use frozen berries?
Yes. Both fresh and frozen berries work well. If using frozen berries for the uncooked sauce, thaw them first before blending.
You can use fresh or frozen (thawed) berries.
Cooking the berries gives a more concentrated flavor, but the uncooked version is quicker and needs no extra pot.
Can I make the berry sauce warm?
Yes. For a warmer, more concentrated berry flavor, cook the blended berries, lemon juice, and sweetener in a small saucepan for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, stir in the chia seeds, and let cool for 5–10 minutes before adding to the cottage cheese base.
Is this cottage cheese breakfast bowl good for meal prep?
Yes. Prepare the cottage cheese base and berry sauce ahead and store them separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Assemble just before serving.
What berries work best?
Raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries all work well. For fewer carbs, choose mostly raspberries or blackberries, or use a mixture of your favorites.
Can I add toppings?
Absolutely. Try chopped nuts, seeds, unsweetened coconut, or a small spoonful of nut butter for extra texture and flavor.
