My Radish Experience – Novel Thoughts

I still remember the call I received one afternoon in 2018. The lady said she was from Radish fiction. They were aware of my work and invited me to share it with the members of their platform. I was hesitant. How would this work? I had tried my hand at placing a few titles on WattPad, but didn’t see much happening with it. She invited me to check out the app and provided other details about how it all worked. Though hesitant, I was very excited.

My backlist of titles was already extensive- the chance to share that work with a new slate of readers was encouraging. I began with Between Love and Hate, one of my earliest indie stories. Between Love and Hate, instead of Remember Love, could have been my first traditional title with BET Arabesque. The editor who expressed interest in it left on maternity leave and went back to work for another house before making an offer.

I didn’t know how this would work out. Would I get feedback? Would I gain new readers who would support my other work… I was immediately impressed by Radish- the app was dynamic and engaging. It was easy to upload and revise stories as well as cover art. It was also a very nice feeling to be invited to write for the group. The Radish App also tracked and displayed the number of times a story was viewed (LOVED THIS FEATURE!!). It ranked stories (listed by cover) on pages associated with genre and featured them on the main pages of the app.

As I shared more work on the platform, new readers did indeed come my way and from across the globe. It was especially rewarding to hear from readers in Africa about The Warrior’s Gift, Eternal, and Ruler of Perfection, three of my paranormal romance titles with storylines that explored aspects of African culture and history. These positive reader reactions included inferences about what would happen in the next episodes and their satisfaction at seeing characters with ties to their Homeland and its history.

The Radish Platform closed on December 31, 2025. I will miss it as an author and a reader. Radish brought something special, rewarding, and compelling to its fans in a way that will make it a hard act to follow.
