Gluten-free Easter Eggs guide 2026 – I’ve visited every major UK supermarket and found ALL of the Easter eggs you didn’t know were gluten-free! All featured are Coeliac-friendly and wheat-free, with dairy-free options too.
Gluten-free Easter eggs guide 2026 – it’s back for yet another year! You’ll find all of these products on supermarket shelves in the seasonal aisle AND down the free from aisle right now in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, M&S, Waitrose, Morrison’s Aldi, Lidl and more! Yes, I actually went to all these places and took 700+ pictures of everything myself so you can be sure they do actually exist – it took a while! 😂
IMPORTANT NOTE
I’m very specific in this post when I reference which eggs are gluten-free and safe to eat. So please don’t assume that, just because you’ve seen one egg from a particular brand in this post, that every egg by the same brand is also gluten-free.
What I’m trying to say is this: please ensure you’ve got the right egg which is shown in the photo of this post and most importantly always read the ingredients labels thoroughly for yourself. Ensure that not only does it not contain gluten, but ensure it also doesn’t have a ‘may contain’ warning for gluten, wheat etc.
The ULTIMATE gluten-free Easter eggs guide 2026
Since this is a HUGE gluten-free Easter eggs guide, I thought I’d split this post up by supermarket (also, this year there’s one ‘problem egg’ you need to know about). Of course the same eggs are stocked in multiple supermarkets so don’t be surprised if you see the same ones pop up in one or more supermarkets.
Generally, most of these eggs are found in the seasonal aisle of supermarkets, but you will often find the gluten-free and dairy-free eggs down the free from aisle.

The ‘problem egg’ of 2026…
What’s the big problem with the two Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut eggs? (pictured below across various supermarkets)

Well, if you only looked at the ingredients list on the outside of the boxes… nothing!
On the box, both of these eggs have ZERO gluten-containing ingredients and zero ‘may contain’ warnings for gluten – therefore making both gluten-free and safe to eat for Coeliacs.
However, when you open the box and look at the ingredients list on the 2x fruit and nut bars included in the box, you’ll see conflicting information which states the bars have a ‘may contain’ for wheat. So which is correct, the box or the wrappers on the bar? Well, I contacted Cadbury’s and here’s what they had to say:
Thank you for contacting us regarding the labelling on our Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut Egg.
Following improvements within our factory, we have removed the potential for our Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut bars to come into contact with wheat. Subsequently, we have been working towards removing the wheat declaration from our packaging.
At the moment, the bar inclusion of some Eggs still include an outdated ‘may contain wheat’ statement. We are very sorry that this discrepancy has caused some confusion and concern. We would like to reassure you that the information on the outer packaging is correct, and we have taken steps to ensure that the bars will be updated accordingly.
‘May contain’ declarations are not mandatory to be included on packaging, however, we can appreciate how concerning this was for you when you read the information printed on the bar wrapper and we would extend our sincere apologies to you. Please also note that there may also be a delay by some retailers updating their product information online and in-store.
We are committed to providing clear and accurate labelling on all our products to allow our consumers to make informed decisions when selecting our products for consumption.
So there you go – whether you still feel confident enough to buy this product is totally up to you. I’ve included this info here so you can make your own informed decision. I won’t be including this egg in the rest of this post just because it needs to be constantly caveated with the above info. Anyway, onwards with the rest of the post!
Tescos gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
As usual, the first stop in my gluten-free Easter Eggs guide is Tesco! Here you’ll find a wide range of ‘accidentally gluten-free’ products (no gluten-containing ingredients or ‘may contain’ warnings for gluten) as well as a nice selection of free from eggs.
Of course, head to the seasonal aisle for almost all of these products, but for any free from branded products, you’re more likely to find them down the free from aisle – namely all the gluten-free and dairy-free eggs!

And now let’s head over to Sainsbury’s to see which gluten-free Easter eggs await us! Expect a similar selection to Tesco, but of course with a few different variations of Sainsbury’s own-brand free from products.
Of course, expect an awesome range of dairy-free products here too, which as you won’t see in some of the supermarkets coming up, is something worth celebrating. Don’t forget about their free from hot cross buns too!

Asda’s gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
Our Easter egg hunt continues over at Asda!
As always Asda has a good selection of Easter options, much like they did last year. They have lots of variety in terms of branded Easter Eggs and equally their free from range is definitely one of the better ones.
Make sure you make the most of the products from brands that DON’T produce all-year-round gluten-free-friendly products – like Terry’s mini eggs for example! Their OMV! (vegan) range also includes a couple of gluten-free eggs too.

M&S gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
As usual, M&S remains the place where you’ll find the most unique Easter eggs that can’t be found anywhere else!
Of course, that also means you won’t find all of the ‘big brand’ Easter eggs here at all, so make sure you pop to M&S and either Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury’s for a vast selection in total.
Fortunately, lots of M&S’ own brand eggs are safe for us to enjoy. I’ve also included their free from hot cross buns here too for good measure! There’s a few dairy-free options here, but far less than in the other supermarkets above so far.

Waitrose gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
In Waitrose, you’ll find a few exclusive own-brand eggs and free from hot cross buns that more than make it worth the trip over, but watch out as there are lots of own brand ones that do contain gluten or have may contains too.
Waitrose also contains one of my fave products this year: Waitrose No.1 6 Mini Blonde Chocolate Croissants! Finally, gluten-free ‘croissants’ I can eat and easily buy 😂

Aldi’s gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
Aldi has a very small selection of safe eggs, but much like last year, Aldi’s range seems huge when compared to Lidl which is coming up next 😂 The vast majority of eggs and Easter treats in Aldi have a ‘may contain for gluten’, though things have improved a little this year.
I haven’t found some products that were both gluten-free and dairy-free from last year – a chocolate bunny and lamb – which is a shame. But I will keep an eye out for them!

Much like previous years, I never seem to find a lot in Lidl… which is a shame as it used to stock far more!
However, if you are in there by chance, here’s what’s suitable regardless. It’s mostly stuff you can find anywhere!
And in terms of dairy-free… they seemed to be free of dairy-free once again, if that makes sense!

Morrisons gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
Morrisons had a good selection of branded Easter eggs but just like previous years, most of their own brand Easter eggs this year rather disappointingly are ‘may contain’ or ‘contains gluten’.
Though Morrisons has a sizeable seasonal aisle much like Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s, you sadly won’t find as much in here outside of the ‘usual brands’ as you will in the latter.
But nevertheless, here’s what I found!

Ocados gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026
You’ll always find a large selection on Ocado as they not only include all the common ‘big brand’ eggs, but also all of the M&S ones too. So it’s effectively like one of the first three supermarkets combined with M&S!
But not only that, you’ll also find options that aren’t commonly in supermarkets like the super fancy Booja-Booja dairy-free options. The photos below are ones I’ve found out in the real world that Ocado also happen to sell, or failing that, images from their website.
Of course, Ocado is an online supermarket exclusively so you’ll need to meet their minimum spend of £40.

As you might remember, I did a post like this for gluten-free Easter eggs last year in 2025. Sometimes it’s fun to see how things change (for better or worse?!) as well as confirming if something specific that you enjoyed last year is missing or not.

Gluten-free Easter Eggs 2026: Frequently Asked Questions
But wait… aren’t most Easter eggs gluten-free anyway?
You might think so initially, but any form of chocolate-based product can be a minefield when you’re gluten-free.
For starters, with Easter eggs specifically, whilst the actual egg may be gluten-free, they might come with some added extras which aren’t.
Plus, some Easter eggs have a ‘may contain’ warning for gluten which makes them unsuitable for Coeliacs and certainly not gluten-free. So this post is a collection of all the eggs I’ve found that are gluten-free and safe for us to enjoy!
What makes these Easter eggs gluten-free and safe for Coeliacs?
As long as the ingredients list has no gluten-containing ingredients and there is no ‘may contain’ warning for gluten/wheat/barley/rye etc, they’re considered gluten-free. That’s the standard I use throughout this guide. Anything with a ‘may contain’ for gluten or wheat is not considered safe for Coeliacs, even if the ingredients themselves don’t list gluten directly.
What does ‘may contain gluten/wheat’ actually mean on Easter eggs?
It usually means the product is made in the same factory or on the same lines as products that do contain gluten. That creates a risk of cross-contamination, so in the UK it’s not suitable for Coeliacs. For this guide, I’ve treated all ‘may contain gluten/wheat/barley/rye’ warnings as a no-go.
How can I quickly check if an Easter egg is gluten-free in the UK?
My basic checklist is:
- Scan the allergen line and ingredients list – if it lists wheat, barley, rye or gluten, put it straight back.
- Check for ‘may contain’ warnings for wheat, barley, rye or gluten – if it’s there, I don’t consider it as gluten-free.
- If it’s in the free from aisle and clearly labelled “gluten-free”, that’s always the safest bet, though of course these will tend to be dairy-free too which may not be necessary for all.
If it passes all of the above, it’s what I class as gluten-free in this guide.
Are there any gluten-free Easter eggs that are also dairy-free or vegan?
Yes – quite a few! In the guide, I’ve highlighted a range of eggs from free from and vegan ranges across supermarkets (for example Moo Free, NOMO, supermarket “Free From” and Asda’s “OMV!” style ranges).
Why do some Easter eggs change from gluten-free to ‘may contain’ from one year to the next?
This usually happens because:
- The recipe has changed (new biscuit/crisped cereal pieces, different inclusions, etc.), or
- The factory or production line has changed, meaning a higher cross-contamination risk with gluten-containing products.
That’s exactly why I redo this guide every year and why I keep pointing you back to the current packaging and not last year’s photos – products can and do move from safe to unsafe (and very rarely, even revert back again).
Are there any gluten-free mini eggs or eggs suitable for an Easter egg hunt?
Yes – quite a few brands do mini egg bags, hunt-size treats and small hollow figures that are gluten-free. In this guide, I’ve included mini eggs, bunnies and small packs wherever I’ve spotted them. As always, check for:
- No gluten-containing ingredients
- No ‘may contain’ warnings for gluten or wheat etc.
These are perfect for egg hunts if you’re trying to keep everything Coeliac-safe.
Can I still buy Easter eggs from discount shops like B&M, Poundland or Home Bargains if I’m gluten-free?
You can, but the rules are exactly the same: don’t trust the shelf, trust the label. A lot of what’s in discount shops are the same branded products you’ll find in big supermarkets, but sometimes they also stock different sizes, older packaging or imported products. Always:
- Check the allergen line
- Look for any ‘may contain’ for gluten or wheat
- Don’t assume a product is safe just because a similar one in a supermarket was
Are gluten-free Easter eggs more expensive than regular ones?
Often the specialist “free from” eggs (especially dairy-free/vegan ones) are more expensive per gram than standard eggs. However, a lot of the eggs in this guide are “accidentally” gluten-free big brand products from the normal seasonal aisle, at the same price as everyone else pays. If you’re on a budget, those are usually the best value – and the free from aisle is where you’ll find the more specialist (often pricier) options that tend to be GF and DF too.

As always, I would imagine as well as places like Holland and Barrett and other health food stores would be a good bet. Iceland usually have a few eggs and the likes of B&M and Poundland may also. Just always check ingredients first!
