Summer rain in the UAE August 2026

For this week’s weather forecast we have sunny highs… and occasional rain showers

Amidst all the news of rising temperatures and the Super El Niño in the UAE, the weather chose to surprise (or rather bless) us with a few good showers across the region over the past few days, with more expected for the week ahead.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the rain we had last week is set to continue into this week and will continue until Thursday. The NCM is predicting afternoon showers across parts of the east and south, with some inland areas also expected to catch a few drops.

Temperatures in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will reach highs of 46°C, with occasional cloud cover, while temperatures in Fujairah are expected to be as high as 37°C, but partly cloudy with some heavy rain. The rainy weather will continue into Wednesday and Thursday, with partly cloudy conditions in Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Over Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures in the capital are expected to climb to 48°C, while Dubai will see highs of 45°C to 46°C.

While not all of us have been fortunate enough to experience this crazy phenomenon in person, we have compiled a few of our favourite rainstorm moments that were captured on camera, so you don’t have to miss out on the region’s rarest sights!

Now, the weather might seem rather enticing but take care if you’re caught up in it. The NCM has released an alert issuing a statement of precaution for all:

  • Precaution should be taken while driving rainfall
  • Stay away from areas of flash floods and accumulative rain
  • Avoid being in open or elevated areas during lightning and thunder
  • Be alert to downdraft winds that may cause loose objects and reduction of horizontal visibility
