We sincerely thank Shang and colleagues1 for their interest in our review on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) care. Their letter highlighted the key gaps that we have extensively identified and discussed in our review, which still need to be addressed before AI is fully integrated into routine clinical practice. We believe, however, that these challenges should not be regarded with skepticism. Far from representing insurmountable obstacles, they are in fact the very steppingstones to push the boundaries of IBD research and clinical practice into the era of precision medicine.
