Snow started falling on Christmas evening. The next couple of days I was out and about shooting images of areas that don’t see snow very often.
The Calapooia (cala-POO-yah) River is an 80-mile (130 km) tributary of the Willamette River in the state of Oregon. The Calapooia was named for the Kalapuya (also spelled Calapooia), a tribe of Native Americans.
The small Sodom Dam and Shearer Dam were both removed in 2011, leaving the Calapooia River free of any human-made dams.
I took this photo near McKercher County Park, the park is most esteemed for the swimming holes that punctuate the Calapooia River, and which hosts one of the most acclaimed swimming holes near Eugene.
