So you’re planning a journey from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh? This helpful travel guide is part of my transit series, where I share how I got from point A to point B when the info was not on google or it was not always easy to figure out on my own.
This blog post lists all the ways to get from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh with convenient, bookable links.

My Egypt Story:
In 2020 I was unintentionally caught in Egypt when the country got ‘red zoned’ and I couldn’t get back to Europe without doing a $3000 mandatory 12-day quarantine in a hotel.
Yikes.
It ended up being a blessing in disguise and I fell in love with Egypt! I traveled onwards from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh, which is on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. I ended up being ‘stuck’ in Egypt for two months and during this time, I absolutely made the most of it. I even signed up to get my advanced PADI scuba diving certification.
I hope you love Sharm as much as I did and if you’re new here, you can read more about me here.

Travel Tips
Safety:
- I write a lot of content for solo females so this is just a reassurance that in my experience, I was completely safe in Sharm.
- I advise to take precautions, especially in Cairo and especially if you are a solo female traveler. For example I personally wouldn’t walk around alone at night and even during the day time can be a challenge without a guide due to unwanted attention. However, this is not exclusive to Egypt and can happen anywhere.
Highlights:
- I highly recommend taking advantage of the world class coral reefs with a scuba dive. If you aren’t a diver, you can get certified there like I did or even just go for a snorkel tour.
- Of course, you can’t miss the Pyramids and Sphinx but I’m assuming you’ve probably already seen them. What I can suggest is a personalized photo shoot during your trip – I booked mine through AirBnb Experiences and it was so fun! Plus, I got an entire album of professional images.
Conclusion:
I hope you enjoy your time in Sharm!
