U.S. President Donald Trump seemingly discussed the idea of foreign powers taking out California’s most populated cities while delivering a speech at a Republican rally at the Pinnacle Bank Expo in Grand Island, Nebraska Monday evening.
Trump was discussing the war in Iran and the price of gasoline before referencing the Southern California cities.
“With the war it’s just artificial, it’s a little bit high, it’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let ‘em take out Los Angeles. Let ‘em take out San Diego,” Trump said, drawing cheers from the crowd. “This is a very small price to pay and it’s going to be over very soon. It’s essentially almost over with.”
Trump’s appearance is the latest effort to rally Republican voters ahead of the midterm elections. Trump was there to campaign for Nebraska Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), who faces an unexpectedly competitive race against independent Dan Osborn, polls show.
Apparently Trump plans to campaign for GOP candidates pretty much non-stop between now and the end of the election — which again is happening right now — four weeks from tomorrow.
That sounds like great news for Democrats.
