How Boyz II Men built $260m property empire

They dominated the 90s airwaves with record-shattering hits like End of the Road and I’ll Make Love to You, racking up tens of millions in album sales.

Decades after topping global charts, the members of Boyz II Men have quietly built multimillion-dollar property empires, TV careers and private suburban retreats.

Combined, original members Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, Wanya Morris and Michael McCary hold an estimated net worth exceeding $US180m ($A260m).

Why Michael McCary vanished from the group

While Boyz II Men continue to tour as a trio, earning up to $US200,000 ($A290,000) per show, original bass singer Michael McCary vanished from the line-up in 2003.

McCary, who holds an estimated net worth between $US10m – $US20m ($A15m-$US29m), stepped away after severe back pain made performing impossible.

For years, rumours swirled regarding a rift and a perceived lack of commitment. However, McCary later revealed he had been secretly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).

The diagnosis was kept hidden from his bandmates at the time, resulting in a painful 21-year breakdown in communication between McCary and the remaining trio.

Nathan Morris

Founding member Nathan Morris has led the group’s biggest real estate plays.

Worth an estimated $US60m ($A88m), Morris turned his property passion into a television career, starring in the HGTV series Hit Properties with Nathan Morris.

In the show, Morris took on a massive 854sq m mansion in Orlando, Florida.

Set on a 1.26-acre block, the 1996-built estate underwent a multimillion-dollar overhaul. He transformed a vaulted kitchen ceiling into an office and man cave, added resort-style pool amenities with fibre-optic lighting, and installed hi-tech automation.

The finished five-bedroom, six-bathroom home was later placed on the market for $US4.9m ($A7.2m).

Morris also owns a three-bedroom home in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, purchased early in his career.

Stockman previously owned a sprawling five-bedroom, four-bathroom residence in the celebrity hotspot of Woodland Hills, California, which he sold for $US1.525m ($A2.23m).

He later downsized to a luxury condominium in nearby Tarzana for $729,500 ($A1.07m).

Meanwhile, Wanya Morris, whose fortune is estimated between $US30m and $US60m ($A44m and $A88m), established his base on the East Coast.

He bought a four-bedroom estate in Voorhees, New Jersey, in 1997, which later hit the market for $US649,900 ($A950,000).
