Fireboy DML teams up with JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela for his contagious single “IMALI.”
The track functions as the final lead single and sixth track from Fireboy’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, “ZUKO!.”
The record “IMALI” makes a deliberate, respectful leap into the rapidly evolving world of South African dance music.
Fireboy DML navigates this space by adapting his signature smooth, melodic cadence to match the cadence of the beat.
Thukuthela’s vocal presence acts as a brilliant counterweight, weaving directly into Fireboy’s lines, providing an anchoring element that solidifies the track’s South African identity.
The word “IMALI” translates to “money” in isiZulu and isiXhosa, laying bare the song’s primary thematic pillars from its outset: ambition, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of financial success amid the realities of the daily hustle.
Handled completely by JAZZWRLD, the production on the track opts for a measured, slow-burning intensity over immediate, frantic energy.
This record marks an intentional paradigm shift in how West African superstars are engaging with Southern African club cultures.
As the countdown to “ZUKO!“ album release nears its end, the single stands out as a crucial thesis statement for the project.
