Whether your kids are interested in arachnids, or perhaps you are doing a mini beasts learning them, or you need a quick and easy activity for Halloween, these spider cutting practice printables are fabulous way to practice scissor skills.
All you need for this activity is the printable pages, and some scissors… and a container to put the cut pieces in!

For my kids who are new to using scissors I set up a table with a couple of copies of the snipping strips and some small bowls to put the snipped images into. The small strips are easy for little hands to hold and only need small snips to be successful so they are perfect for beginners.
For my pre-schoolers who are not new to scissors but still need some practice, I set up the table with a selection of web cutting strips to choose from. Cutting along the dotted spider web lines is not easy at first, so don’t worry too much about how close to the line the kids cut, focus more on holding the scissors correctly and how to hold and move the paper.

These printable cutting practice pages make a great small group activity in the classroom, or a fun quiet time activity that is perfect for early finishers.
At home you could easily set up a small tub with both the web cutting cards and the snipping strips and a pair of scissor as a great quiet time activity, or an easy way to work on fine motor skills.
