Friends,
Thank you for all the nice “welcome back” letters today. It was so heartening.
I have spent the past year working on my latest “epic” project, one I think most of you will love. More on that later.
But for right now, with just 38 days until Election Day, I’m going to do what I’m going to ask all of you to do — as best you can, knowing that you have go to work and that the kids have to go to school — I’m asking you to find little breaks or pauses in the next few weeks and give whatever time you can to help take the House and the Senate away from these no-good rotten bastards. Please! C’mon! We Can Do This!
At this point, it is only about TURNOUT. We need to get everyone and their sister out to the polls, from early voting in October, to 7pm/8pm on November 3rd.
For this one, my friends, every single one of us has to show up — and bring 5-10 voters each with us.
This includes the truth-tellers, cynics and Chuck Schumer-haters out there who will need to cast their voter for a party that started the Gaza genocide, failed for nearly 50 years to codify into law Roe v. Wade or to make the ERA the 28th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Millions of women, people of color, and young voters have had it with the weak and spineless Democrats. It’s why Harris lost in 2024. So many of our fellow Americans stayed home and that’s why Trump won. And it’s why MAGA NATION MAY WIN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER. You don’t think that’s possible? How many times do you need to have the horse kick you in the head?
So here’s what I’m asking you do today. Make a list of people to adopt as your “Vote Buddies” — coworkers, fellow students. cousins, neighbors, recovering Republicans, gas-guzzling Dodge Ram owners, ICE cops begging for forgiveness, little League coaches in AA, men in tupeés and that woman in the church choir now under arrest for embezzling thousands from the parish fund for Pagan Babies — anyone you think that has come to their senses about Trump or all those who’ve decided to simply take their lard-ass down to the nearest voting booth.
You know who they are.
They don’t trim their hedges or their kids hair. But they are sick of the Orange Man in the White House — and right now they’re just waiting for a kind soul in the car pool to hold out a hand and giving them a free egg or two.
Make a list of 9 people, make a party out of it, and drive them to the polls. Or make a lunch date out of it with all 9 of you! Or have an early voting night in your living room then go get smashed or high. That’s what is great America – you do not need to be sober to vote! You just need to be pissed off enough to show up and reluctantly vote, even if it’s just for a lame-o Dem.
And here’s the good news — there a ton of actually great Democrats running this year! Many of them won their primaries by throwing out the old farts who continually voted for war, Big Business and taxpayer funded NFL stadiums. There are young members of the DSA. They’re our Black and Brown brothers and sisters! There are candidates on the local ballots this year who work 3 jobs and make $50K a year. Let’s let some of them call the shots! It really is one of those years we can have a real say and make a real difference.
In the coming weeks I’ll give you their names. In the meantime make your list of Vote Buddies. Get together with them, talk about who else can join your list. Have some fun.
And never forget: there’s always more of us than there are of them! WE! CANNOT! BE! DEFEATED!
Yes. Winning Is THAT Easy!
Mike

If there’s one thing I know about my crazy haters, they would rather host a 100-person potluck to raise legal funds for CNN journalists kicked off Air Force One than give me $5. I have found over the years, this is the most effective way to keep the haters from ruining our conversation.
I believe in open and fair discussion, and want to keep things as open for everyone, but keep the tone as respectful as possible. I do read through the comments, as do my producers.
