Office Air and Skin Health: Moisturizers, Hydration and Other Ways to Prevent Dryness

Office air is a new trend spreading across social media platforms. There are quite a few videos floating around where people explain how the air conditioner and closed room atmosphere of the office dries up their skin and hair. The skin then starts looking dry, lifeless, and tired. But is there some truth to this internet trend? Does office air harm your skin and hair? Well, this is actually a half-truth, but there are other factors involved. Let’s find out.

Office air is not a medically established phenomenon but definitely a scientifically explained one. Both the air conditioner and heater tend to drastically decrease the level of humidity in the air. When the humidity decreases, the skin loses its water content. As a result, the skin starts feeling stretched and sensitive. It might also look lined up even though it’s only temporary. Hence, you start feeling like the office air is making you look tired and aged.

However, office air isn’t the only factor affecting our skin. Besides it, there are quite a few things that affect the skin in the negative way. The way we live our lives affects our skin. Prolonged sitting in one position, improper dieting, stress also affect the skin. In addition to it, constant staring at the computer screen without blinking your eyes tends to tire them resulting in dark circles under the eyes.

One reason is a lack of water in the body. Staying in the air conditioned air all day can make us feel less thirsty, and we tend to drink less water than we need. This further dehydrates the skin, making it appear dry and lifeless.
