So of the plethora options of covers for the milestone 1000th issue, this JSC seems to be the standout.
On its own 200+ sold may not seem like much but considering it was released the week and many of those sales were at a preorder discount to the $10 cover price, the fact that the overall Avg is $12 is impressive. I’m skeptical of the High $65 sale, given the seller also had other outlier sales for other variants; but apart from that there were multiple $30-$50 high sales
Also note the virgin 1:200 had 20+ sold at a whopping Avg $314, and High $400. Also the LCSD Skan Srisuwan cover had 30+ sold at an Avg $31, and High of $47
WRITER: Garth Ennis COVER ARTIST: Mike Perkins
Film announced by Amazon
After only a dozen sold last week, this weeks news that Amazon will be making this one shot into a movie has triggered 120+ sold (+958%) at an Avg $10, and a High of $25
This is Magazine Sized with a $7.99 Cover and many of the sales last week and early on were for less than cover, so again the fact that the overall Avg still ended up at a premium.
3 Incredible Hulk #143
WRITER: Roy Thomas COVER ARTIST: Herb Trimpe
Hulk Meets Doom
After checking on this last week, it finally popped this week as many folks who saw the after credits scene with Endgame are speculating on Hulk/Doom connections. This was their 1st meeting in comics so many have gravitated here with 35+ sold (+400%) at a Raw Avg $35 (+$16) and a High of $110 (+$69). The largest sales was a CGC 9.6 $458
4 Web of Spider-Man #119
WRITER: Terry Kavanagh COVER ARTIST: Steven Butler
1st Kaine
So we recently found out that Amazon is going to do an animated show of The Clone Saga, along with rumblings from Tom Holland that he would love to adapt the story in the MCU and many folks are picking up those keys this week.
33+ sold (+725%) on the 1sy app of Kaine doubling its Avg this week to $13 (+100%) including a High of $30 (+$20). For context a CGC 9.8 sold for $135
5 Web of Spider-Man #118
WRITER: Terry Kavanagh COVER ARTIST: Steven Butler
1st Scarlet Spider
Along with Kaine, you need Ben Reilly and the Scarlet Spider so no surprise here that with 20+ sold (+144%) at an Avg $47, and a High of $84. No 9.8s sold, but a CGC 9.6 sold for $165 this week
6 Amazing Spider-Man #149
WRITER: Gerry Conway COVER ARTIST: Gil Kane
1st Ben Reilly
You gotta go back a ways for the 1st Ben Reilly (cloned PP) but here we are again with 23+ sold (+130%) at a Raw Avg $41 (+$23)and High of $81 (+$49). The standout here was a CGC 9.2 for $220
7 Avengers #162
WRITER: Jim Shooter COVER ARTIST: George Pérez
1st Jocasta
Its not just Spidey this week, but Visionquest is on teh way and new trailers have given us a peak at Jocasta, who 1st appeared here. With 23+ sold (+1,050%) at a Raw Avg $13, High $30; the big sale was a CGC 9.8 for $303.
Be aware there is a Mark Jewelers, 35 cent, & Whitman Variant on this book
8 Amazing Venom #1
WRITER: Jordan Morris COVER ARTIST: Ito
Ito Variant
Will pooping covers of poses on “the throne” now be a thing? IDK about that but this week many are grabbing this Ito variant. Sure its mostly chasing a hot artist, but it could be the former.
In any event with 70+ sold with many at a discount with cover preorder sales, the Avg $7 and High of $20 is again impressive. Asking prices are currently $10-$30
Note the 1:100 had Only 5 sold at an Avg $116, but one hit a High of $150
9 Justice League Unlimited #23
WRITER: Mark Waid COVER ARTIST: Dave Wilkins
Lanterns Variant
Climbing onto the list this week thanks to 70+ sold at an Avg of $17. It is worth noting that ~50 sold with the GL we are about to see at #10 at an Avg $32
10 Green Lantern #39
WRITER: Jeremy Adams COVER ARTIST: Taurin Clarke
Lanterns Variant
Almost entered as a pair, this variant had 60+ sold at an Avg $19. And like the last book we can’t ignore that almost 50 sold with the JLU @ #9 for an Avg $32
These are one off sales worth noting this week. Single sales may not warrant a place on the main list, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t note impressive and notable single sales each week.
West Coast Avengers #45
Visionquest may start with our White Vision since that is how he left us, but either way folks are going back to this book this week preparation for the Disney + series.
16+ sold (+167%)
Raw Avg $19, High $30
CGC 9.8 $127
There is also a MJ Variant
Green Lantern: Earth One #2
Speculation that the Lanterns show may end this week with John Stewart becoming a Yellow Lantern has folks searching for any comic that depicted this. While never happening in the regular DCU, it did occur in this graphic HC a few years back in an Elseworlds type tale reimagining the DC Universe in a more “realistic” way.
Only 5 sold but at an Avg $92 and High $150, the current Asking prices are $200-$230
These are one off sales worth noting this week. Single sales may not warrant a place on the main list, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t note impressive and notable single sales each week.
Avengers: Armageddon #4
Drops in volume and price kicked this off the list despite continued strong sales
90+ sold (-67%)
Avg $11 (-$2)
High $25 (-)
Lots of 10: $80 (-$20)
Miracleman #1
Again volume is down even as some prices are up, but not enough to maintain a spot on this week’s list.
80+ sold (-46%)
Raw Avg $21 (+$3)
High $41 (-$34)
CGC 9.8 $349 (+$84)
