Rick Ross Sued for $261,000 by Promoter Over Two Cancelled North Carolina Shows

Rick Ross Sued for $261,000

A promoter says Rick Ross walked away from the last two dates of his Port of Miami tour with hours to spare, and it wants $261,000 back.

Omega14 Incorporated filed suit in Charlotte court against Ross, Maybach Music Group and his touring company over the final stops of the Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Orchestra Tour, in Greensboro and Charlotte.

Court filings describe Ross as contractually bound to perform for at least an hour at each show, with cancellation allowed only in the event of “severe injury or death.”

According to the complaint, Maybach Music Group manager Tawanda Roberts phoned Omega14 at 1 p.m. on the day of the Greensboro concert and said Ross “refused to perform” that night and the following night in Charlotte.

Omega14 says the Charlotte show was nearly sold out, and that Greensboro sold a substantial number of general admission and VIP tickets. It also says it was never reimbursed for venue bookings, production, marketing, lodging and transportation, which it puts at $261,000 in expenses and lost profits.

The sharpest allegation concerns where Ross was instead. Omega14 claims he performed in Orlando and Miami Beach on the same days he was due in North Carolina, which it argues is “inconsistent with an inability to perform caused by severe injury or illness.”

Its complaint accuses the defendants of conduct that was “unethical, unscrupulous, and substantially injurious” to the promoter, the orchestral musicians, choir members and venue operators.

These are the promoter’s claims. Ross has not publicly responded to the suit, and no court has ruled on it.

The cancellations became public news in August, and 50 Cent, Ross’s rival for years, quickly mocked them on Instagram. The two have traded jabs for years, including Ross’s stunt of offering to buy a puppy for 50’s youngest son, so the lawsuit gives that feud fresh material.

The filing also lands at a rough moment. Separately, Ross’s ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick has accused him of physical abuse, allegations he has not addressed publicly and which are unrelated to the tour dispute.

Omega14’s demand now waits on a response from Ross and his companies.
