Emalyon summoned arcane indie-folk devotion under new-moon candlelight for their latest hymnal single, ‘The Lovers’ –

If it were any artist other than Emalyon, we would chalk it up to coincidence that their latest single, The Lovers, echoes the symbolism of harmony, alignment and meaningful connection represented by the tarot card. Arriving on September 30th, the indie-folk singer-songwriter’s new release draws from repeated encounters with The Lovers during weekly tarot readings, turning that ritual spark into a moonlit meditation on love as movement, balance and mutual acceptance.

The shadows of Southern Gothic fall over the single, which refuses to be tamed through excessive production. A haunting riff carries the track with ceremonial grace, while images of moonlight, candlelight and cyclical motion give The Lovers its spellbound atmosphere. There is something hymnally pure about Emalyon’s vocal force, and that is not force in the obvious sense. It is demure, arcane and haunted by the kind of bittersweet sorrow that tells you Emalyon leaves their soul wide open to the beauty and agony of reality.

The bewitching magnetism of PJ Harvey and Chelsea Wolfe flickers through the darker edges, while the emotional directness of Feist can be felt in the way Emalyon lets intimacy breathe without artifice. Originally from Northwest Ohio, shaped by twelve years in Nashville and trained through Berklee in Boston and Valencia, Emalyon’s musical depth is oceanic.

The Lovers is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify.
