As the Magic-Maxxing faction executes its plan to summon some man-made Kaii to prove their point, Magilumiere makes its move. The question is, can they stop the new artificial type of Kaii before it’s too late?

With the Kaii growing new small arms, the girls know what they are up against as they have seen this before. Besides adjusting their restraints, they resort to using elemental magic, namely electricity namely to defeat them. While Kana and her friends can clear most of them, the spread of the Kaii is pretty wide.

On the other hand, AST is about to deploy Mei as they plan to use the new magic device. The technicians warned her not to overdo it. Of course, she brushes it off as she finally heads to the scene and uses her new magic. As expected, the gigantic magic guns that came out from large screens took out the Kaii with brute force. Kana is in disbelief that Mei works with a magical girl company that is on the Magic-Maxxing faction.
It’s clear that the Magic-Maxxing faction is not happy that Magilumiere is dealing with most of the man-made Kaii. It makes it look like a wash with no clear advantage, for now. They believe over time, the Magic-Maxxing faction will come out ahead as more people see the benefits of deregulation. Masao is not giving up just yet, as he has another trick up his sleeve to salvage this so-called “demo.”

Soon, a blue light appeared, and a new Kaii appeared. While they look like the hand Kaiis from before, they have mutated even further. With that, Mei ignores the warning not to go over the 100% magic limit. However, going over that can become very dangerous. That is when Mei increases it by over 100% against their warnings. She even throws the communicator as she defies them, because she wants to see results.

As expected, Mei is a workaholic. It’s easy to see why. It’s because of the trauma of seeing her family’s sweet shop closing down. As a result, she abandoned things like her love for Barley Spice. When Kana saw Mei’s earpiece and her lab technicians attempt to contact her frantically as Mei increased her power limit, she intervened. She says that what Mei is doing is not something that Barley Spice will do, and of course, Mei says that she is not even real. From a flashback, the impact of her family’s sweet shop closing, she gave up fun to focus on her studies so she didn’t end up with the same fate as her parents.
While it’s understandable that she doesn’t want to end up like her parents, her workaholic tendencies are not healthy for her. Dying from overwork is a thing, and using that much magic above safe levels can be dangerous too. She basically has no work-life balance, and nobody should devote their entire life to a faceless corporation. Kana of course begs her to convince her otherwise, that the magical girl work she is doing is not fiction, but real life. Therefore, Kana tries to say that going overboard with magic power that she can handle can have grave consequences. Kana goes so far as to slapping her in the face as she cries. Still, how Kana interacts with Mei feels like a yuri couple bickering over something. After all, if Mei injures herself, how would Kana be able to go on her lunch “date” with Mei?

In the end, Kana’s intervention allowed enough time for Koga, who owns AST, to abort Mei’s mission for her own safety. Sure, he seems cold towards Shigemoto and is willing to help the Magic-Maxxing faction for his own gains. It’s clear he won’t risk his worker’s lives to achieve their objectives. The question now is, with Mei having to back down, she feels down. The question is, what happens next, or whether she will help Magilumiere through other means.
