Nigerian singer and creative designer Nissi Ogulu has made a bold comparison between herself and her Grammy-winning brother, Burna Boy, insisting she is the better singer.
Nissi made the claim during a recent interview with Cool FM, where she discussed the different areas of music in which she believes she has an advantage over the Afrobeats superstar.
According to Nissi, Burna Boy himself agrees that she has the stronger singing ability. She, however, gave her brother the edge in rapping.
“I am better than Burna Boy at singing and almost everything. He is only better than me at rapping. We both actually agreed on the fact that I was a better singer,” she said.
The comment is likely to attract Attention given Burna Boy’s status as one of Nigeria’s biggest global music stars. His career has earned him international recognition, including Grammy success. At the same time, his sister has continued to build her own identity in music and design.
Nissi began her music career in 2016 with her debut single, Pay Attention, and has since released several songs and projects. She has also worked with artists including Olamide and Fireboy DML.
Music, however, is only one part of Nissi’s creative career. She has a background in engineering and product design and was part of the team that designed the 2023 Range Rover. Burna Boy previously celebrated her achievement publicly, saying he was proud of his sister’s accomplishment.
Nissi has also worked on the Havana Club X Burna project, which was recognized at Paris Packaging Week in 2023.
Her latest comments add another interesting chapter to the siblings’ relationship, with Nissi making it clear that she has no problem backing herself when it comes to her own talent.
