

It has rained all day long and not even a single ball has been bowled on the second day of the ongoing first test match of England and Pakistan at Headingley. The first session of the day is already washed out. As far as lunch time is concerned, England have amassed 59 runs behind in comparison to Pakistan’s first innings total score. Rain also hampered the opening session of the first day. Following dismissal of Pakistan for 171, England managed 112 runs with two wickets in hand in 25 overs at the end of the first day.
The opening pair of Ben Duckett and Emilio contributed 36 runs for the first wicket. Ben Duckett was bowled out for 15. After Duckett’s dismissal, Emilio (33) got out when team scored 48. Jordan Cox further contributed 64 runs for the third wicket along with the captain Joe Root during the course of the day.
Jordan scored 23 runs including 4 fours, while Joe Root has remained unbeaten on 37 runs with 6 fours. Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Ali took one wicket each in this innings. Earlier, Pakistan (losing the toss) who batted first faced 48.1 overs in their first innings and scored 171 runs.
Pakistan suffered two setbacks before reaching the score of 6. Abdullah Shafique then tried to revive the team by sharing a 91-run partnership for the second wicket with Imam-ul-Haq, but the breakup led to a collapse of wickets.
