Each Thursday in the Disquiet Junto music community, a new compositional challenge is set before the group\u2019s members, who then have five days to record and upload a track in response to the project instructions.<\/em><\/p>\n

Membership in the Junto is open: just join and participate. (A SoundCloud account is helpful but not required.) There\u2019s no pressure to do every project. The Junto is weekly so that you know it\u2019s there, every Thursday through Monday, when your time and interest align.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tracks are added to\u00a0the SoundCloud playlist\u00a0for the duration of the project. Additional (non-SoundCloud) tracks also generally appear in\u00a0the lllllll.co discussion thread<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Disquiet Junto Project 0686: Catch Your Breath<\/strong>
The Assignment: Listen to yourself inhale and exhale; make music from what you sense.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Sit for a moment and slow your breath.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Continue with Step 1 for a bit longer.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Pay attention to your breathing, in and out, in and out. Don\u2019t record yourself. Just listen, and feel.<\/p>\n

Step 4: Consider how the process of breathing in and out slowly can lend shape to a piece of music. Again, just do this through personal consideration of the act of breathing. This project isn\u2019t an exercise in audio sampling.<\/p>\n

Step 5: Record a piece of music that engages with the ideas that surfaced in Step 4.<\/p>\n

Tasks Upon Completion:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Label: Include \u201cdisquiet0686\u201d (no spaces\/quotes) in the name of your track.<\/p>\n

Upload: Post your track to a public account (SoundCloud preferred but by no means required). It\u2019s best to focus on one track, but if you post more than one, clarify which is the \u201cmain\u201d rendition.<\/p>\n

Share: Post your track and a description\/explanation at https:\/\/llllllll.co\/t\/disquiet-junto-project-0686-catch-your-breath\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Discuss: Listen to and comment on the other tracks.<\/p>\n

Additional Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Length: The length is up to you. How long does one sit and just breathe?<\/p>\n

Deadline: Monday, February 24, 2024, 11:59pm (that is: just before midnight) wherever you are.<\/p>\n
